The position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Group Controller to oversee business/financial control and performance across our global operations and to manage a team of 25 people. The Group Controller will play a pivotal role in managing cost controlling, project controlling, budgeting, and financial reporting while serving as a strategic business partner to the CFO, CEO, and Board. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in a similar group with international exposure and a deep understanding of financial management within an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) environment. The Group Controller will be responsible for robust financial reporting in line with IFRS and local GAAP and for managing external communications with auditors, tax advisors, and other bodies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the finance function, providing direction and mentorship to a diverse team of professionals across multiple business units globally and ensure effective financial oversight.
  • Financial Control & Reporting: Oversee financial consolidation, IFRS and local GAAP reporting, and analysis for 10+ legal entities. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies and timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Cost Controlling: Manage and optimize cost structures across our 4 factories and various business units, including identification and implementation of operational savings and cost-reduction initiatives across the business.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, financial planning, and rolling forecasts to drive business performance. Contribute to long-term business plans in accordance with overall financial & operational strategy and direction of the Group.
  • Performance Management: Implement and track key financial KPIs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Business Partnering: Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to the CFO, CEO, and Board.
  • Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial reporting, controlling, and operational efficiencies.
  • External Communications: Act as the primary point of contact for external bodies including auditors, tax advisors, and tax offices.
  • Credit Facility & Treasury Management: Participate in managing credit facility and manage treasury activities including working capital management.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls, risk management practices, and international financial regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA, ACCA, or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business & financial controlling, preferably within a multinational engineering or manufacturing environment. Big 4 experience is a plus.
  • Proven experience in cost controlling, with a track record of delivering successful cost reduction initiatives.
  • Proven experience in project management as the role needs to be able to juggle multiple priorities at the same time and ensure timely delivery of initiatives
  • M&A experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Engineer-to-Order (ETO) business models.
  • International Exposure: Proven ability to work across multiple countries and cultures, with experience managing financial teams globally.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong people management experience, including coaching and developing teams.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights and to discuss financial strategy with the CEO in the morning and dive into detailed financial analysis in the afternoon.
